May Day the first of May

My sister and I were fortunate enough to have a childhood that included mayday. Here is what I remember

were you fortunate enough to have the opportunity to participate in dancing around the May Pole on May day?
What do you think caused this tradition to die out?
Have you encouraged this tradition to continue with your own children?

Celebration of Fertility and Union: Beltane, celebrated on May 1st, honors fertility, passion, and the sacred union of the God and Goddess. It's a time of growth, abundance, and the blossoming of life.

Fire Festivals: Beltane is traditionally marked with bonfires, symbolizing purification, protection, and the return of the Sun’s strength. Jumping over fires or walking between them is a ritual of blessing and renewal.

Maypole Dance: The maypole, adorned with ribbons, represents the union of male and female energies. The dance around it weaves intentions for fertility, prosperity, and harmony into the coming season.

Nature and Flower Offerings: Flowers, especially hawthorn and primrose, are used to honor the Earth. Altars are decorated with seasonal blossoms and symbols of fertility like eggs and antlers.

Handfasting and Love Magic: Beltane is an auspicious time for handfasting (Wiccan weddings) and love-related rituals. It celebrates relationships, both romantic and spiritual.

Communing with Nature Spirits: The veil between worlds is thin, similar to Samhain. Offerings may be left for fae or spirits, and divination is often practiced to seek guidance for the months ahead.
