Full Moon June 2024

The full moon in June 2024 will be on Friday, June 21 at 6:17 AM. It's also known as the Strawberry Moon, a name that comes from the seasonal growth of strawberries in North America around that time of year. The moon may appear slightly reddish or tinted near the horizon due to light scattering in the atmosphere, but it's not usually consistently pink or strawberry-colored.

This year's full moon will also be especially notable because it will occur on the Summer Solstice, which hasn't happened since 1985. Because the moon is always opposite the sun in its position, and the sun will be at its highest point, the moon will appear much lower in the sky than the sun normally does.
